Origin:-
Chicken and dumplings recipe is very common Southern recipe. Chicken and dumpling is very healthy and nutritious food as its rich with protein. It’s very easy to cook and found almost every restaurant easily.
Ingredients:-
Butter…….2 tbsp
Yellow onion…….1 large, chopped
Garlic…….2 cloves, minced
Chicken thighs…….1 pound, boneless
Chicken broth…….1 cup
Frozen mixed vegetables…….1 pack
Dried sage…….1/2 tsp
Dried thyme…….1/2 tsp
Flour……..11/2 cups
Fresh parsley…….3 tbsp, chopped
3 tablespoons shortening…….3 tbsp
Buttermilk…….2/3 cup
Procedure:-
1. Sauté onion and garlic in butter for 5-7 minutes in large sauce pan until onion became golden brown. Then add chicken broth, vegetables, sage, chicken thighs and thyme in it. Slow down the heat.
2. Now prepare the dumpling by adding flour, parsley and shortening and stir well to make dough. Further add butte milk and continue beating until dough holds together but firm.
3. Make upper layer of chicken mixture with dumplings. Pour with spoon but don’t let them to touch each other. Cover the pan and reduce the heat to low. Cook the chicken and dumpling for 10 to 15 minutes. Serve in serving dish and garnished with fresh coriander and chilies.
